Business accounts
When you register, we collect your business name, contact number, email address, service description, coverage details and a password. The password is stored as a salted hash. We use your email to confirm and administer your account. Your listing may appear in search after email confirmation and profile approval. We do not independently verify every business claim. A customer can send a direct enquiry to an approved listing with consent; we share the message and contact details with that business to allow a response. The general requirement form remains a preview.
Purposes and lawful bases
We process account, listing and direct enquiry information to provide the services you request and take steps towards providing them (contract). We also use limited technical information and authentication records to protect accounts, prevent abuse and review submitted listings (legitimate interests in operating a secure, reliable directory). We do not sell personal information.
Service providers and transfers
Railway hosts the website and database; Resend delivers account and enquiry emails. These providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States, subject to their applicable data protection arrangements. Ask us at the address above for more information about a particular transfer.
Retention
We retain account and listing information while the account is open, or longer where needed to resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations or protect the service. Confirmation and reset links expire after 60 and 30 minutes respectively. Sign-in sessions normally expire after seven days, or after up to 30 days when you choose “Remember me”. You can delete your business account from its dashboard or request closure using the email above. Direct enquiries are stored with the business profile and removed when that profile is deleted, except where retention is legally required. We will review the request against any legal retention obligations.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability. You can contact us using the email above. You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
